Danielle Gadus (b. 1998, Chicago, IL) lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Her work explores sensuality, somatic modes of perception, and phenomenological dualities. Utilizing silk as a primary medium, she engages transdisciplinary processes, including spatial installation and gestures of performance. Danielle transforms the textile through dying processes, lighting techniques, and use of organic matter (such as rocks or sand) and entropic forces (such as gravity or wind).
She received her MFA in Integrated Practices from Pratt Institute and was awarded the Pratt Graduate Fellowship and Virginia Pratt Thayer Scholarship. She has recently exhibited with Bridget Donahue (New York, NY), The Source Space (Lake Hill, NY), WIG (CDMX), Priv.y Gallery (New York, NY), among others. At Pratt Institute, she hosted an “artist non-talk,” served as a guest critic for undergraduate fashion and painting classes, and facilitated the Visiting Artist Lecture Series. She participated in the Casa Lu Sur residency in CDMX in 2023. Danielle regularly hosts and curates salon-style exhibitions, performances, workshops, and happenings in her home studio. She also collaborates with iRRRegular Screenings, co-hosting a monthly screening of short-format videos.
