Beginner Tapestry Weaving Workshop


Ever been curious about the woven wall décor that’s been popular lately? Catch weaver fever and learn all the basics of Tapestry Weaving in this beginner friendly workshop. Over the course of 3 fun and relaxing hours, you’ll be taught skills needed to create and design your very own wall hanging. 

In this workshop you will learn:

·      How to make a simple DIY loom from cardboard

·      How to set up the loom and learn the difference between the warp and weft threads 

·      Learn the different weaving stitches including plain weave, braiding and loops

·      How to add fringe and tassels

·      Learn to incorporate a variety of fiber weights and textures

·      How to plan and execute your own design

·      How to complete your wall hanging with a dowel

All materials included. 

Yarn, needles, cardboard, rulers, pencils, scissors, dowels

Instructor: Jennifer Fleischer

Fiber artist Jennifer Fleischer is the owner and founder of Ibu Textiles, a line of hand woven products designed and created in New York. Based in Queens, she weaves each unique piece by hand. With the use of floor and frame looms, she likes to blend traditional and experimental techniques. Her current line exhibits a strong design aesthetic inspired by her experiences finding peace and calm in an urban city. Traveling plays a vital role in her inspiration as well, and the name itself, Ibu, means 'Mother' in Indonesian. She currently resides in Queens, N.Y. with her husband, Nate, and a plant named Clementine.
